Stone Maintenance Technician (SMT) IICRC Certification Course

Length: 16 hours over two consecutive days, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

This comprehensive "Hands-On" course, covers proper procedures, chemicals and equipment needed to identify, clean, maintain and restore all common types of stone, marble, granite, ceramic, concrete, and terrazzo flooring found in commercial and residential properties. Stone and tile cleaning and maintenance are profitable add-ons for janitorial and carpet cleaning companies. In most areas, billing rates for tile work start at $1.50 per square foot and go to as high as $15.00 to $25.00 per foot for granite restoration. This is income that is available to most cleaners for the asking with new and existing customers.

The course prepares attendees to take the IICRC SMT certification exam on day two of the course. This course involves at least 40% hands on student involvement, come prepared and dressed to clean and polish stone flooring. Apprentice/Basic Skills Courses (IICRC)

Length: 4 to 6 hours

These courses provide entry-level training for new hires and those not quite ready for the IICRC's formal 16-hour certification program. These six-hour introductory courses provide attendees with an overview of all the major components of the full certification course in a short and easy to follow abbreviated version. Each course includes a PowerPoint presentation, written handouts and at least 25% hands on participation. A certificate of completion is issued to each attendee who successfully completes an exam during the last hour of the course.

Length: 16 hours over two consecutive days, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

This presentation is designed to give contractors the latest techniques and information on bidding, estimating and preparing winning proposals for all types and sizes of accounts. Participants will learn how to estimate job costs and prepare bids that are profitable, accurate and effective in todayÕs competitive marketplace. In this "Hands-On" course the instructor will walk attendees through the process of identifying, reaching, and convincing potential customers and preparing an accurate bid and proposal for cleaning services for all types and sizes of buildings.

The instructor examines various specialty markets, what's involved in servicing each market and how to determine what your costs will be and how much you should charge in order to cover all labor, supply, equipment, overhead and profit. This is a hands-on seminar, during which you will calculate and prepare actual bids on case study buildings and be able to ask and have answered all your bidding and estimating questions. Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) Preparation Workshop

Length: 8 hours

Designed for supervisors, managers and owners or cleaning companies and inhouse custodial operations that wish to prepare for, meet and exceed the requirements of the International Sanitary Supply Association (www.ISSA.com) CIMS certification program. The instructor who is one of 15 ISSA authorized CIMS assessors will walk students through the assessment process explaining how to best prepare the documentation needed for each element of the CIMS program.

Cleaning Industry Annual Dinner

Please join us for this Second Annual NW Cleaning Industry Dinner, sponsored in cooperation with the Carpet Cleaners Institute of the Northwest (CCINW), Service Paper Company and other local cleaning industry trade associations. William “Bill” Griffin has over 40 years’ experience in the cleaning industry as a cleaner, consultant, trainer and expert witness and is certified as a Registered Executive Housekeeper (REH) by the International Executive Housekeepers Association (www.IEHA.org) and a Trainer for the Certified Surgical Suite Training Program by the American Hospital Environmental Services Association (AHE).

He is the author of the Comprehensive Custodial Training Manual, How to Sell and Price Contract Cleaning, How to Start and Operate a Successful Cleaning Business, and other books and manuals, as well as over 400 articles on cleaning, maintenance and self-employment.
